Our Model
Early Intervention services in Douglas County are provided to children ages newborn to 3 years of age. These services are designed to support families and children who have developmental delays or disabilities. To qualify for services, a child must have a significant developmental delay or disability that meets Oregon eligibility guidelines related to learning, speech and language, motor, social-emotional, vision, hearing, or autism.
If a child is found eligible to receive services, an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) is developed by the family and a multi-disciplinary team. This plan is based on a child’s individual strengths, needs, family and educational goals. Our services are designed to support learning and development, with parents as a primary partner in their child’s education. Our goal is to empower families with the tools and strategies needed to help their child thrive in their everyday activities, routines, and environments.
Our services are founded on a coaching model approach where providers and families work side by side to enhance a child’s development. By focusing on a family’s primary goals for their child and daily opportunities for learning, we help families feel confident in supporting their child’s growth.
In Douglas County, our services are delivered by a multi-disciplinary team, each composed of skilled therapists possibly including early childhood special education educators, service coordinators, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, hearing specialists, vision specialists, autism specialists, and behavior therapists. Therapists are provided based on a child’s individual needs, with a variety of therapists working with a family and child. These teams work collaboratively to service children and families across the region, ensuring personalized and holistic care.
Each child also receives support from a service coordinator, who serves as the central point of contact for your child’s service plan. This support assists families with identifying available resources, communication with team members, and ensures services are delivered effectively and seamlessly.
All services are at no cost to the family. Referrals for evaluations and/or services can be made by a parent, physician, preschool staff, child providers, nurses, family members or anyone concerned about a child’s development. A doctor’s referral is not needed.
