Speech Services
Strong communication skills are the foundation for learning and academic success. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and certified speech-language pathology assistants (SLPAs) with Douglas ESD provide critical services to help students overcome communication challenges. Serving all school districts (K-12) in Douglas County, our program supports more than 1,200 students annually through Individualized Education Plans.
We address various communication disorders, including speech sound difficulties, language delays, cognitive-communication challenges, stuttering, and voice issues. Services are tailored to each student’s needs, offered through individual or small group sessions, classroom collaboration, or consultation with teachers and families.
Referrals begin with a school’s Student Services Team. If parents have concerns about their child’s communication skills, they are encouraged to speak with the child’s teacher.
