Ten sixth-grade students were called into the principal’s office. They weren’t in trouble. Instead, they were invited to share their thoughts, take turns speaking and listen to each other as school administrators leaned in to hear what they had to say.
With graduation around the corner, several Riddle High School seniors took a few minutes to reflect on moments that shaped their time in school and the individuals who walked alongside them.
On a Tuesday afternoon, 12 Glendale High School students take center stage during drama class. The class period begins with warm-ups—deep breathing exercises and choreographed dance routines to set the tone.
Students chop garlic, grate cheese or tend to chicken sizzling in the pizza oven, while others measure ingredients or wash dishes. Everyone plays a role in the energetic learning space. These students are part of the Hospitality and Tourism program at Douglas High School in the Winston-Dillard School District.
North Douglas Elementary School’s reading program is a model of intentional design, collaboration and a commitment to literacy. With a dedicated staff and strong partnerships, the school has transformed classrooms into spaces where young learners build foundational reading skills and confidence.
