Douglas County schools seek to bolster gender equity in classes

One of the biggest challenges in education is attracting students to careers that have long been identified with one gender. But changes are brewing, and some recent efforts by Douglas County educators have drawn national attention.

A public meeting of the Budget Committee of the Douglas Education Service District, Douglas County, State of Oregon, will be held at the Douglas Education Service District building, 1871 NE Stephens Street, Roseburg, Oregon to discuss the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017. The meeting will take place on May 26, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

Specifically, Salam Noor, the state’s deputy superintendent of public instruction, is inviting Oregonians to reimagine education in our state.

This year’s theme, “MATP on Safari,” promises to be a wild time, with Wildlife Safari staff bringing small animals as well as items for children to explore through touch and sound.
