ELH grants support families in three counties

The South-Central Early Learning Hub has awarded grants totaling $126,973 to recipients delivering services to families in Douglas, Klamath and Lake counties. The grants will support programs aligned with the hub’s goal of offering resources to ensure children are ready for school by kindergarten.

The grants are expected to benefit up to 810 children in the three counties as well as 15 additional families in Lake County. Recipients are as follows:

About 50 Jackson County families are expected to benefit from a $10,000 grant from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation presented at a June 23 awards ceremony at Seven Feathers Hotel and Casino Resort.

The Jackson Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education program was among more than 64 nonprofit groups receiving grants  totaling $374,500. Grant sends ECSE classroom teacher to Ireland

Douglas ESD's Annie Bailey, a classroom teacher for the Early Childhood Special Education program, is one of 21 Douglas County eductors who will have great stories to tell this fall about how they spent their summers. That's because Bailey and the others are embarking on self-designed summer professional development experiences as grant recipients of The Family Ford Foundation's 2016 Douglas County Fund for Teachers.

There's still time to register for July 11-21 PartnerSports Camp!

Registration remains open to participants in this summer's PartnerSports Camp, offered for eight days during July 11-21.

Formerly known as Camp Shriver, PartnerSports Camp is a cooperative effort of Douglas ESD and the YMCA of Douglas County. Most activities take place at or are launched from the YMCA, 1151 N.W. Stewart Parkway, Roseburg. This is the camp’s 11th year. It’s open to students across Douglas County.
